This year I have really enjoyed English class, I really like how english was taught to us. This has been the best class if english I have ever had. My self regulation in this class I think has been pretty good. In class I always use class time effectively. I use my time in class to get my work done, and in class I always stay on task. All of my assignments have been completed and on time. This year in english I arrive to class on time ready to learn and to do my work. I have never skipped a class and there was only a few days of class I missed and they were excused to being on vacation and being sick. When I am in class I always listen to the teacher and give a response so you can tell that I am listening. Even though we are allowed to have our technology out, I am never on the phone when the teacher is talking or when we are not supposed to. When we are working on our phones I always do my work so I can get it finished on time and to the best of my ability, I don't do other things on my phone. The reading assignment we had over the break, even though we didn't have to I still did read the book because it was a really good book and I wanted to see how it would end. For my self regulation mark in this class I think the appropriate mark would be 32/33.
Analyzing and creative work in this class has been pretty good for me. After I have completed my assignment I will always double check it and edit it. For example my Romeo and Juliet essay on is their love real or lust, and Romeo and Juliet healthy and dysfunctional relationships. When ever I have done an assignment that something's have come from someone's else's point of view or website I will always cite it because you need to give them credit for their work. After watching the video's of how to write a formal and informal essay on the website and after our first five paragraph essay I completely know the difference now and when you need to use any of those two in a essay an example for that would also be my Romeo and Juliet essay is their love for each other love or lust. Making connections to yourself and literature is very important. In this class when we we had to make a self connection to our writing I tried my best to make a connection to myself. An example of self connections would be our essay on being a teenager and a connection to literature is our news story assignment.
I know all my literary terms that I am supposed to know and can identify them in writing. With our character study on Romeo and Juliet class, I have finished all my assignments for that unit and have edited all those assignments. An example for this would be the soliloquy we chose to do from the play. An example for creativity put into an assignment would be the story I made called The Mistake.
When we have had the opportunity to put creativity in my work I have always tried my best to be creative. In this pillar of our mark I think I would deserve about 30/33, I think that would be an appropriate mark for analyzing/creative work.
My contribution to learning, self and others in this class has been really good in this class. I have commented on a lot of peoples work and assignments to give them feedback and what I think of what they've done. I have also done the literary terms that we were supposed to do so other people in the class can benefit from it. My contribution to myself is I do the research we are supposed to do to understand and do what we are working on, also I finished the book when it wasn't manditory because it was a good story. I have also gone back and reread and edited my work that I needed to. In class I will also participate in the discussion we are having with the people at our table and discussions we are having with the class. For my class contribution mark I think I would deserve 31/30, I think that would be the appropriate mark for this pillar.
The three PLO'S I chose for me is A1 Interact and collaborate in pairs and groups, C14 Use conventions in writing and representing appropriate to purpose audience, to enchants meaning and artistry, anf B3 view, both collaboratively and independently, to comprehend a variety if visual texts. For the PLO A1 I collaborate with people at my table and the person beside me to talk about what we each think and come up with an idea together, also we gain insight to other perspectives when we talk as a group and say what we think. In class I always collaborate with the people at my table to have a discussion on what we were learning or doing in class. For PLO C14 use conventions in writing and representing appropriate to purpose audience, to enchance meaning and artistry, in my writing I use proper punctuation when needed and have proper grammar usuage. I also capitalize letters when they require a capital and I cite work that has come from someone else. The third PLO I chose was B3 view both collaboratively and independently, to comprehend a variety of visual texts, for example is the poems we did in class and what we each thought what it meant and talked about it together as a class afterwards. When we read Romeo and Juliet we read together as a class and researched words we didn't know and went through words and lines we didn't understand. The three songs we chose on the topic if pressure we each picked an article we thought connected to a song the song out of the three of our choice. We talked about the connections we made to the song and the articles we chose for the theme of pressure.
I'm English class this semester overall I think I deserve about 93/99 which is the three pillars all added up which would be about 94 percent. I have really enjoyed English class this semester, I think it's a great way to do English through technology. I think all English teachers should teach like this. This is the best English class I have had, it's been a great semester for English in this class!
-Thesis:"What ever is done in the darkness will eventually come out in the light"(unknown)
-Theme:truth
-Argumentative essay
Telling the truth is always better than telling a lie regardless of any good intentions for lying. "If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything". Usually people who are hiding the truth or lying, make up stories to cover it up and more often than not the story changes each time it's recalled by the person. In the novel The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime, Christopher's dad chose to make a bad decision and tell a lie to cover up what actually happened to his wife and Christopher's mother. Choosing to tell a lie will always lead to bad ends, and so if your good person you should never tell a lie. "Whatever is done in the darkness with always come out in the light". This statement fits for what Chritophers dad did, as eventually his lie about what happened to his mother and his actions regarding the hiding of the letters came out in the light when Christopher was snooping through his room and found the box filled with letters his mom sent to him, but also how his dad decided to hide them.
I believe you should always tell the truth no matter how hard the truth may be, because I believe the truth will always set you free. Christopher's dad lied to him by telling him his mother was in the hospital and died of a heart attack when she actually cheated with the neighbour and moved to London with him. While his dad's intentions may have been good in hiding the truth, his lie was eventually uncovered with Christopher's discovery of all the letters his mom had sent him each week. His dad made the conscious decision to hide all of them in a box in his closet, but that would lead to the truth finally coming out. Christopher discovered the letters when he went in his dad's room to look for his book he was writing and found the letters all in a box in his dad's closet. Christopher's dad was being very selfish in not telling him the truth just because it was hard for him and for him to explain everything to Christopher. Everyone deserves to know the truth especially if it's concerning your own mother. It's very wrong that the dad hid these truths from Christopher, because a lie will always find it's way out into the light and if it does it can then cause much more hurt than the truth up front, and in this case it ruined the relationship between Christopher and his dad. Hiding something very bad like this situation in the novel can hurt the ones you love most. In the novel how Christopher's dad told him his mom was dead is so reprehensible. As the son he has the inherent right to know his mom is truly dead or alive. Christopher's dad also killed Wellington the dog. This fact was apparent all the while as Christopher investigated who killed the dog, and the dad never told him until right after he discovered the letters. Combined with all the other lies compounded, Christopher thought his dad was a murderer and how he lied about his mom that it was unsafe for him to be in that house with his dad anymore when his dad looked out for him for his whole life. It wasn't worth it wrecking their relationship they had over what really happened to Christopher's mom. You should always tell the truth because it's not worth the risk of losing what you care about most in this world.
The truth of what happened to Christopher's mom and Wellington was very hard to tell, especially because it would be very hard for Christopher to find out when he firmly believed something to the contrary. It would be very hard for him to deal with. Some people do think that not telling Christopher was the right decision. This is quite understandable because Christopher can't understand emotions very well, and generally speaking this would be very hard for him to find out that his dad was a killer and a lier. It would impact negatively to their relationship and to also find out his mother is a cheater would probably hurt him as well. This information would be awful to hear and perhaps the benefits of keeping these facts hidden from him outweigh the benefit of telling the truth? After all, learning the real truth would likely wreck his opinion of his parents. Sometimes "ignorance is bliss" and he certainly seemed to be content in just doing his math and playing with his rat. However, some people think it would just be easier to keep a secret, or tell him way later in life which Christopher's dad was planning on doing inevitably. In this case it would be very difficult to tell the truth as it could mess a lot of things up and he's only just a kid after all and this information would be very hard for him to take in. This information could wreck a lot in his life. "Something's are just better kept unsaid", but Cristopher definetly has the right to know the truth that his dad has been hiding.
I do understand that people think that Christopher's dad never should of told him or tell him way later in life, but this is extremely wrong and selfish of the dad. Yes it is a good point but still it's very wrong and very selfish of Christopher's dad to lie to him and tell him that his mother died like that. Yes it would be way easier for Christopher's dad just to tell him that his mother died instead of what she actually did and not tell him that he killed the dog meanwhile he is trying to figure out who the killer is. This would of eventually came out and it would be way worse finding out this information by yourself or from someone you don't care that much about. Christopher's dad's bad decesion wrecked what the dad had with Chrtisopher and it changed his opinion how he saw his dad. Before Chrsitopher had a good realtonship with his dad and loved his dad very much, but now Christopher is scared of his own dad and see's him as a killer and liar are two awful things. Know their father and son relationship will never be the same just because his dad chose to lie now he will never get their relationship back that they used to have. It's always better to find out the truth from someone you care about at least that shows they're honest and they care about you that much to tell you. Christopher deserves to know the truth, this definetly should not have been kept from him. Secrets like that will always find a way out it's just better to be honest about it.
In the novel there was a lot of bad things that happened that were kept a secret, I think this book teaches a very good and valuable lesson, always tell the truth to the ones you love or "What ever is done in the darkness will eventually come out in the light". This quote is exactly what happened to Christopher's dad. I will always believe to tell the truth, it's always better then telling a lie. Christopher defenitley deserved the truth to be told to him. The truth is a very powerful thing, deciding to tell the truth will always be better then telling a lie because secrets always have a way finding their way out and if that happens it the damage is a lot worse then deciding to just tell the truth in the beginning. I definetly believe in the statement "What ever is done in the darkness will eventually come out in the light". You should always be honest, "Honesty is the best policy".
So far I really like this book, I really like how it's actually in the persepective with a person with autism. I find it really interesting learning how they act or feel when certain things happen and how they think. I find it really interesting how when there are four red cars in a row it is a good and and if there are three yellow cars in a row it's a bad day and he talks to no one and just reads. I also find it cool how the chapters in the book are only prime numbers. This book is really fascinating on the perspective and what he talks about in the book. I really enjoy reading this book, I haven't read anything quite like it. I was really sad that the dog died right at the beginning of the story, it's always a dog. I love dogs so much so that was sad. I'm curious what happened to Wellington and who did it. I'm really glad we are reading this book for English instead of some really boring book. I am really curious in what else is going to happen in the rest of the story and what will happen with Wellington, I can't wait to read more.
Two girls, a 12 and 14-year-old, were arrested in a Florida bullying case after one of them admitted online over the weekend that she harassed a 12-year-old girl who killed herself last month, a sheriff said Tuesday. (Oct. 15) AP
Doug Stanglin and William M. Welch, USA TODAY8:11 a.m. EDT October 16, 2013
Sheriff says he made arrests after one suspect posted on Facebook that she didn't care the victim had died.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Tuesday that he made the arrests Monday after one of the two girls posted on Facebook as recently as Saturday that she had bullied the victim, Rebecca Sedwick of Lakeland, Fla., and didn't care that she had died.
Rebecca, who killed herself Sept. 9 by jumping off a cement factory tower, was "terrorized" by as many as 15 girls who picked on her for months through online message boards and texts, according to authorities in Lakeland, Fla. One message said she should "drink bleach and die.''
The online harassment allegedly continued after she transferred to a different school.
Experts who have studied social aggression in teens, including bullying via the Internet, say such harassment is a widespread problem that has gained increased attention in the digital age, when written threats and taunts live indefinitely online.
About one-fifth of all teens report having experienced cyberbullying, says Justin Patchin, professor of criminal justice at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and co-director of the Cyberbullying Research Center. He said the actions in the Florida case were extreme because of the length of the harassment, the number of teens involved and the seriousness of their postings.
"It is generally very rare for criminal charges to be filed against teens for these kinds of behaviors,'' Patchin said. "Kids have been bullying each other for generations. ... What makes it different is the long-standing nature, the permanent nature of statements online.''
Rosalind Wiseman, a Washington, D.C., author of two books on teen bullying, including a new one about boys titled Masterminds and Wingmen, said the relentlessness of cyberbullying can make teens feel isolated and miserable.
"Because it is so public, it makes everyone feel like it's happening all the time,'' she said. "The thing that makes the victims feel desperately miserable is the feeling the entire community is ganging up on them and nobody is coming to their side.''
Though bullying is as old as classrooms, only in the past decade or so have states moved to address with legislation what once was simply the domain of schools. In 1999, only Georgia had an anti-bullying law. Now every state but Montana does. In the past 14 years, states have enacted nearly 130 anti-bullying measures, half of them since 2008.
Spurred partly by the Columbine shootings in 1999, when news accounts suggested the perpetrators had been bullied, states began rapidly addressing bullying, a 2011 U.S. Department of Education report found. Eighteen states have laws that allow victims to seek legal remedies, either from schools that don't act or from the bullies themselves
The suspects were charged as juveniles with aggravated stalking, a third-degree felony, according to the Polk County sheriff's office.
"Bullying in and of itself is not a crime. But bullying makes up the predicate acts for stalking or aggravated stalking," Judd said.
If found guilty, it's not clear how much time, if any, the girls would spend in juvenile detention because they did not have any previous criminal history, the sheriff said.
The judge in the case remanded the 14-year-old girl into the custody of juvenile authorities, the sheriff's office said in a statement. The 12-year-old, described as a one-time friend of Rebecca's, was released into her parents custody "due to her remorse and cooperation." She will not be allowed to attend school, the statement said.
Ludd said a feud had erupted after the 14-year-old suspect began dating a boy Rebecca had been seeing. She "began to harass and ultimately torment Rebecca," Judd said.
The sheriff said the 14-year-old was "very cold, had no emotion at all upon her arrest." The second suspect was once the victim's best friend.
Judd said that the pair were the main culprits, but that the investigation continues into the possible involvement of other girls.
The sheriff said the tipping point leading to the arrests came when one of the suspects purportedly showed a lack of remorse for Rebecca's death by allegedly posting on Facebook on Saturday: "Yes ik [I know] I bullied REBECCA nd she killed her self but IDGAF [I don't give a (expletive)]"
The suspect told deputies that her Facebook account was hacked and that she did not write that post, WTSP-TV reported.
The sheriff's office says that in interviews with detectives, the 12-year-old suspect "admitted that she 'bullied' Rebecca and said she was sorry.
Judd said police decided to make the arrests out of concern that the girls would pick a new victim.
"We decided, look, we can't leave her out there," Judd said. "Who else is she going to torment? Who else is she going to harass? Who is the next person she verbally and mentally abuses and attacks?"
He said the parents did not cooperate, would not take them to the police and would not stop their daughters' use of social media.
A man who answered the phone at the 14-year-old suspect's Lakeland home told the Associated Press that he was her father and said that "none of it's true."
"My daughter's a good girl, and I'm 100% sure that whatever they're saying about my daughter is not true," he said.
A message left at the 12-year-old girl's home was not immediately returned, the AP said.
Rebecca's mother, Tricia Norman, told WTSP last month that the constant bullying drove her daughter to kill herself, and that the school district did not do enough to protect her.
"They would tell her she's ugly, stupid, nobody liked her, go kill herself," said Norman, who launched an anti-bullying campaign Rebecca Sedwich — Against Bullying, on Facebook.
Rebecca ran away in November and was hospitalized the following month for three days after cutting herself. At one point, the school stepped in to separate the girls' schedules because of fights. Rebecca later changed schools, but the bullying continued online, on sites such as Ask.fm, Kik, Instagram and Voxer, authorities said.
Judd said that on the morning of Sept. 9, Rebecca texted a boy she had met online from the cement tower, saying she couldn't take it anymore and she was jumping.
Judd said the "red flags" for possible suicide were there. On her computer, police found search queries for topics including "what is overweight for a 13-year-old girl," ''how to get blades out of razors" and "how many over-the-counter drugs do you take to die." One of her screensavers also showed Rebecca with her head resting on a railroad track.
Florida has a bullying law named after Jeffrey Johnson, a teenage "techno geek" who was bullied for two years before hanging himself in his closet at age15. Amended July 1 to cover cyberbullying, the law leaves punishment to schools, but law enforcement also can seek more traditional charges.

Romeo and Juliet is considered one of the greatest love stories of all time. The debate with Romeo and Juliet was if there love for each other was love or lust. There are so many different opinions on this topic that there really is no right or wrong answer. Many people have different opinions on this. Some think their love is true love while others feel what they had was based on lust. Love can have a different defenition for everyone, because everyone defines love differently. It all really depends on the individual and their perception of what love really means. Many people think that Juliet and Romeo committing suicide for each other was a true expression of their love for each other, while many people think differently. There are thousands of essays and opinions on this very famous story, and on all these topics regarding whether or not their story was based on love or lust.
Romeo was very depressed when discovered that Rosaline didn't like him. When Mercutio took him to the Capulet party, and right when he saw Juliet, he seemed to dismiss Rosaline. Romeo seemed to be superficial in that he seemed to only care about what the girl looked like, and that's what drew him to Juliet. How does one be so depressed over a break up with someone they seemed infatuated with then see someone else and only because they're good looking get over it so quickly? Romeo didn't really love Juliet, he just liked her because she was better looking then Rosaline. In the beginning of the story, Romeo is walking around acting all depressed saying page 22 lines 56-58 "Not mad, but bound more than a madman is. Shut up in prison, kept without my food", page 27 lines 25 and 26 " Is love a tender thing? It is too rough, Too rude, too boisterous, and pricks like a thorn". Romeo was very upset and depressed over Rosaline, when Mercutio convinced him to go to the Capulet party he only went because he thought Roslaine would be there. He goes from being depressed, and goes to that party to find Rosaline, and right when he see's the next pretty girl he's over her. That doesn't say much about Romeo's perception of love. Their love for each other was lust no doubt about it, but they both really did like each other. It just wasn't true love.
Love is one of the strongest emotions a person can have. We all can define love in our own unique way, but love is surely not to be taken lightly or made to be trivial. Some people define love as how much they love their car, while some people define love by how they love their family. Depending on the individual love can be seen as very shallow or very deep. Love is different for everybody. People can also reserve love for special persons or particular objects that mean a lot to them. Beauty and love both are in the eye of the beholder, and how one person might view a person or thing can be totally different for another person seeing the same thing. Where it can mean everything to one person, it also can mean little or nothing to another. Love can be defined by a feeling one person has for the other, in that they care more about the other person than they do for themselves. Their love can be so strong in fact, that they aren't able to cope living without their true love. Love is also an intoxicating emotion that can sometimes cause a person to become love sick, which Romeo was. Love is basically a strong, endearing emotion someone feels for another person or thing.
In conclusion we can define love by our own perspective. There are many different kinds of love in this world, and love is different for everyone. One person's definition of love can be completely different from another. There is love for people, or it can be material things. It can vary from person to person. Some people love there pets, animals, spouse, family, there are lots of different things people can love. People see love differently from another and it can mean very different things to different people. Different kinds of love can be more valuable then the other depending on the person. It's a different kind of love for an animal and human, both are valuable but in some cases both can be more valuable then the other. Lots of people do love there animal like humans, and lots of people love humans more then animals. Family is a very special and valuable kind of love, family should always come first, family is forever. Love for an animal is very valuableł also, but love for animal is a different kind of love then for a human. It's a special kind of love for animals. There are lots of different kinds of love, it means something different to everyone. It can be very valuable to one person and mean nothing to another. Love is a very valuable thing but lots of people don't have love in their life and don't realize how special and valuable it is.
Romeo and Juliet were crazy for each other, and they were both very love sick. Commiting suicide for each other is not romantic at all, it's very stupid in fact. Romeo was very vunerable to becoming love sick, and so was Juliet. They were both young and didn't make the smartest choices. They both really liked each other but it was lust, it couldn't possibly be true love, they only knew each other for a few days before they got married, and Romeo was all upset over Rosaline not liking him. They both did believe that they loved each other but that's not enough time at all. They were both young and immature, and they killed themselves for each other thinking that they were deeply in love and couldn't live without the other. It's all very surreal. In the middle perhaps it's romantic but you should never ever ever kill yourself, especially if it's over someone you met a few days prior. They both didn't know what love meant but no doubt they did like each other it just wasn't love.
Romeo and Juliet liked each other a lot so much so that they killed themselves. There are so many debates and opinions if there love was real or not there is no right or wrong answer. There love for each other was lust not true love. Romeo was just love sick, he was so depressed over Rosaline then apparently falls in love with Juliet when the only reason he is going to that party is to find Rosaline. He just falls in love with the next pretty girl. Right when he see's Juliet he says page 33 lines 95-98 "If I profane with my unworthiest hand this holy shrine, the gentle sin is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss". This shows that he was only attracted to her because of her looks, it was just teen love, they both didn't truley love each other. There are lots of different kinds of love in this world, and it can vary from person to person. We all can define love in our own way. Romeo and Juliet's story of their love is supposedly one of the greatest love stories of all time, honestly Romeo and Juliet are kind of stupid, yes they were both young especially Juliet but everyone should know not to kill themselves and not to drink a vial to fake their death. In conclusion Romeo and Juliet's love was not real or true love, rather it was all lust, and the only reason why Romeo went up to Juliet and liked her was because she was better looking then Rosaline.
Attendance in English class has been really good. I have only missed three days all excused. One of those days I was sick and got it excused by the office, the other two days I was gone on vacation to California last week and those two days were excused as well. When I missed those days I made sure that my work was caught up and checked the class website so I know what I missed. I always come to class on time and I have never skipped. For tweeting me and my partner Ashleigh we have completed all of our tweets, for in class conversations I will try to be involved as much as I can but sometimes there isn't the opportunities. I am more of a shy person so I comment a lot on wikispaces . For the reading I always listen and pay attention. In class I always do my work and stay on task. I always behave in class and not goof around. I think the appropriate percent out of 25 for this section would be 22 percent.
In this class I have completed every single one of the assignments and I always make sure I do them completely and not just write two sentences to get it over with. I always make sure that I get the assignments done and make sure that I do them on time. I think for my assignment completion I think 25 percent would be about right because I have completed all of the assignments and did them on time and not like a month after it was assigned.
For my writing quality on all of my assignments I would say it's pretty good. All of my assignments that I have done I have made sure that I did them the best I could and did them with my best effort. If I have missed any class or just any day I will always check the class website and look on the comments in my blog. I will always make sure I get all the assignments done to the best of my abilities and I always double check it in case if there is spelling errors, and things I can add to make it better. I think the percent for my writing quality would be about 21-22 percent or so.
In class I always do my work and stay on task. I will pretty much always complete my assignments in class unless if it's a long assignment or if I was away or sick. I would say I comment quite a bit on blogger and try to give people good advice, say good job, what I like about it, or if they need to improve something. I will always try to help any one if hey ask me, like for example the people at my table, me and Ashleigh will always ask for each others opinions and ask one another if we need help. I would say my prescence in class is good because I don't fool around, I always like to get my work done. I would say my self regulation is really good because my phone doesn't tempt me and I always pay attention and work on our assignments. I would think the appropriate percentage would be about 24.
So overall my mark in English class would be around 92 percent or so. I think that would be about the right grade for me in English class.
